CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE GROWTH OF ATHEIST THINKING IN TODAY'S SOCIETY

Atheism has grown in recent decades by the militancy of philosophers and scholars of science who proclaim a new atheism. The aim of this study is to reflect on the new phase of atheism in today's society and its main disseminators, seeking to recognize the expansion of this phenomenon and its influence in the religious context. Through bibliographic research it is observed that neo-theism presents itself with the same ideas as atheism, but with a new vision of concepts and thoughts, making the dissemination of the atheist movement more accessible. The representatives of neo-theism fight against the idea of God or gods and the belief in the supernatural, especially attacking religious fundamentalism and religious influence in politics and society, emphasizing scientific evidence to the detriment of faith in divinity. Atheism has spread more easily today, mainly because it seeks answers to human questions in reason and science, but it also attracts other people through the use of new arguments that accept faith and spirituality in the atheist movement. It is concluded that the neo-theists have propagated the atheistic message under a new guise in order to attract more people to the movement promoting the removal of religion and belief in God in favor of materialism and consequent secularism.
