PEDAGOGICAL WORKSHOPS AS A METHODOLOGY TO PREVENT SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHILDHOOD

Abstract

The methodology of pedagogical workshops are a resourceful opportunity in the teaching-learning methodology in education. The main purpose of this article is to explain the process of formation and emotional structure of children through pedagogical workshops that intended to prevent the incidence of child sexual abuse. These workshops were applied in a playful perspective, where children were influenced to become courageous and smart in the face of danger by learning to defend themselves and overcome the fear of seeking help from a trusted adult. Based on studies that value playing time and its role in education, in addition to supporting the Statute of Children and Adolescents that it states "all children and teenagers have the right to live free from all forms of violence", an experience of the workshops conducted and some of the results identified were briefly reported. Finally, this study  concluded itself by reinforcing the evident need to work on the prevention of child sexual abuse, and suggested this can be done through pedagogical methodologies without imposing fear on the children by preventing them from situations that may expose them to sexual abuse.
