O termo bíblico ger : questões sobre significado, etimologia e campo semântico

Resumo

No recente debate acadêmico, a definição comum do termo bíblico ger como um “residente estrangeiro” em Israel tem sido fortemente questionada. Alguns dos argumentos usados nesse debate pertencem ao campo lingüístico-semântico do termo. Em especial, certo enfoque tem sido dado à questões etimológicas do termo à sua ligação à raiz hebraica gwr I. O presente artigo analisa esses argumentos à luz dos dados do texto bíblico, da língua hebraica bíblica e suas cognatas.
