Abstract

The wifes of religious leaders always have great influence upon their husbands, much more now in the face of the growing involvement of women in the mission of the Church. The present study aims to know what is the contribution of the Women Ministerial Association (Afam) in the task of capacitating the Pastor's wife, or future wife, in the Seventh-day Adventists Church. In a more specific way, this study searches to answer the following questions: (1) What is the role of Afam in training of a wife, or a future wife, of a prospective pastor? (2) Has Afam fulfilled its role as exposed in its goals? The study has the purpose to present a survey of the still short history of this department, especially in face of the lack of literature that records it. Besides a bibliographic investigation, it presents also a field research involving wifes and future wifes of pastors who were living in the Unasp, Campus of Engenheiro Coelho, SP, in the year 2003.
