Abstract
This article presents an investigation into the incidence of male presence in the Pedagogy Course. With the proposed objectives, we sought to understand the historical and social context of teacher training in Brazil, in order to understand how relations between genders were formed in the area. The research focused on the Pedagogy Course at a private, confessional and non-profit institution. The methodology used was bibliographic and exploratory research, as well as field research, through interviews with graduates of the pedagogy course at this institution, to identify the profile of this audience; in addition to performing qualitative data analysis using the WebQDA software. Through research, we concluded: the presence of the male gender in pedagogy, as it stands, is the result of a historical process. And although much has already been done against the prejudice that these professionals face in different ways, there is still work to be done.
