Abstract

Pentecostal authors defend that the glossolalia practiced in their denominations
constitutes a revival of the ancient miraculous apostolic “speaking in tongues”. This article intends to provide a comparison between Pentecostal concepts of glossolalia with that which the Fathers’ of the Church wrote about this matter. The objective is to identify possible resemblances and differences between both views and prove the existence (or not) of a harmony between the patristic and Pentecostal concepts of glossolalia.
