Abstract

This article presents a reflection about the relation between culture, secular music and the identity of a Christian in modern times. Its purpose is to investigate the secular music as a builder of a conscience and style of life that may be in conflict with a life of a Christian who lives within modern culture. Based on theoretical concepts, reflections and biblical analysis, this work highlights the urge of an authentic spiritual posture to be protected from the materialistic contemporary influences. Thus, this article considers the intention of self-protection against these modern risks as a real possibility in the life of those who decide to exercise faith.
