This essay examines pastoral visitation in the context of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, bringing together biblical foundations, contributions from the writings of Ellen G. White, and the perceptions of members from an Adventist congregation in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil. The study is based on the understanding that pastoral visitation is a historically significant Christian ministerial practice associated with spiritual care, the strengthening of faith, encouragement in times of crisis, and the building up of ecclesial communion. Methodologically, the essay adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, drawing on semi-structured interviews and dialogue with theological and pastoral scholarship. The findings indicate that pastoral visitation is widely valued by church members, especially when carried out with intentionality, sensitivity, attentive listening, and relational closeness. At the same time, the research highlights contemporary challenges, such as ministerial overload, expanding administrative demands, and the growing individualization of religious experience. The essay concludes that pastoral visitation remains theologically and pastorally indispensable, although its effective practice requires methodological adaptation, shared community responsibility, and renewed appreciation for personal care in ministry.
