It is a widespread belief that the African continent was "Christianized" through European colonization. However, such a belief disregards several historical aspects related to Christianity in Africa. This article challenges the stereotypes constructed about Africa and opposes the single narrative often disseminated about this continent. To achieve this, it investigates Christian expressions in Africa during the pre-colonial era. As evidence of the presence of Christianity on African soil before European colonizers, biblical texts, written works, illustrations, and intellectual developments that influenced Europe and the broader Christian world were identified.
