Abstract

This paper studies the different manners of interpreting the spiritual communication
with God seen in two homonymous songs: Se eu quiser falar com Deus (If I want to talk with God), one written by Gilberto Gil, and the other by Mário Jorge Lima, a Christian composer. Through the usage of Theomusicology, our objective is to verify how both composers show their religious understanding by selecting the same theme (the prayer) but enunciating it with discrepant lyrics.
