Abstract: At the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, in 1968, the then President, James Muilenburg, challenged people to focus more attention to the peculiarities of every biblical text. His proposal pointed out two tasks, in particular: 1) to define properly the pericope and 2) to establish its structure along with the relationship between the parts of the composition. This paper uses the Muilenburg's method in the text of Hosea 2:4-25 in order to grasp its literary structure and contents. Moreover, it aims to present a model of structural analysis and show its value to biblical exegesis, while revealing, through the book of Hosea, the role of the divine judgment, by dealing with his people when they violate the covenant.
