Abstract

Thomas Aquina is an icon of the Medieval Scholastic thought. His philosophy and theology are the basis of the contemporary Catholic ethics, as well as of modern ethical standards of many countries today. This study analyzes the Thomistic ethics in the light of Scriptures. It explores the bibliography on the subject and detains itself in a detailed analysis of some texts that are fundamental for the understanding of Thomas Aquina´s thought. It also investigates the Thomistic concept on the nature of man, a basic concept for understanding his ideas about human behavior, the relationship between man and God, the origin and purpose of human deeds, and, above all, the meaning of its results.
