Abstract

In 1 Timothy 4:4 are found the following words of Paul: "for everything God created is good, and , once it is received with thanksgiving, nothing is to be rejected". One of the most common interpretations of this verse is that prayer sanctifies any aliment, rendering it proper and acceptable to God. However, what is the meaning of "good" in this verse? Would all kind of food be considered adequate for consumption? There are no more restrictions as in the food dietary laws of the Old Testament? The objective of this study is to search for a clear understanding of the term "good", from Greek καλος, found in the text above.
