Abstract

One of the most important archeological discoveries was the finding of the remains of the ancient city of Ninive. In that archeological site, were uncovered, among others things, the library of king Ashurbanipal´s palace. In that place, were found many documents with stories related to the origins, from a Mesopotamian point of view. The contents of these stories are very closely related to the Biblical Genesis. In this present article the Biblical and Mesopotamian stories of the creation of the universe, the poem of the garden of Eden, the fall of man, and the Flood are presented. The conclusion of this work is that the mesopotamian accounts, related to the biblical Genesis, have an unique and the same time common origin with the biblical material.
