Who is melchizedek?: an exegetical study of hebrews 7:1
Keywords:
Melchizedek, heavenly priesthood, earthly priesthood, priesthood of the firstborn, levitical priesthood.Abstract
This research has as subject of its study one of the most mysterious personage of the Bible: Melchizedek. With such a goal, we focused in the book where his name is mentioned most frequently than in any other of the Bible, i.e., the Book of Hebrews. Who was this Melchizedek? A man? An angel? Christ Himself? The opinions have been divergents along the centuries, and even today there is no consensus on the issue. Nevertheless, this study proposes that the view that this King-Priest was just a human being, contemporaneous to Abraham, is the opinion that do more justice to the biblical text and data.
