Abstract

The present article analyses the proposition that the narrative of the life of Jesus in the New Testament is a detailed transposition of the Egyptian myth about the  gods Osiris and Horus. Hence, it cannot be taken as a historical reality. In a first step, the author describes what can be known about the Osiris-Horus' myth mainly from the original Hieroglyph and pictorial sources, and comments upon it. Then, he examines the major arguments proposed by the supporters of the idea of the "myth Jesus" derived from ancient Egyptian religious material. The major goal of the present research is to verify the plausibility of these arguments, and to investigate if they have any value as proof that the Jesus of the Gospel is, in reality, a myth.
