Abstract

Introduction: Walking is an easily accessible physical activity capable of promoting significant health benefits, especially in weight management and chronic disease prevention. Given the growing obesity rates in Brazil and the impacts of a sedentary lifestyle, it is relevant to investigate the physical behavior of different population profiles. 

 

Objective: To analyze the daily step count and its correlation with lifestyle in eutrophic individuals and those with obesity grades I, II, and III. 

 

Materials and Methods: This was an observational, cross-sectional, and analytical study conducted with 32 individuals (8 eutrophic and 24 with varying degrees of obesity) recruited from the East Zone of São Paulo. Data collection included anthropometric information, blood pressure and heart rate measurements, and daily step count monitoring for seven consecutive days. Lifestyle was assessed using the Eight Natural Remedies Questionnaire (Q8RN). Data were subjected to statistical analysis using correlation tests, ANOVA, and linear regression. 

 

Results: Participants had mean ages ranging from 34.2 ± 11.5 years (eutrophic) to 31.0 ± 7.6 years (obesity grade III). A trend of decreasing mean Q8RN scores was observed with increasing obesity grade: eutrophic (53.4 ± 8.2), obesity grade I (53.8 ± 8.2), obesity grade II (47.1 ± 13.5), and obesity grade III (44.1 ± 12.3)...
