Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Originality and exclusivity: I declare that the contribution is original, unpublished, and authored by the listed authors, and it is not under review by another journal. Otherwise, justification will be provided in "Comments to the Editor."
  • Authorship limit: The article may have a maximum of FIVE authors.
  • Unpublished status: I declare that the submitted article has not been published in any other journal, scientific dissemination magazine, newspaper, or conference proceedings, whether printed or online. If there is a previous version, I will justify it in "Comments to the Editor."
  • File format: The manuscript is in Microsoft Word or RTF format (max. 2MB).
  • References: Whenever possible, references must include the DOI registered in Crossref. URLs and other identifiers should also be provided when available.
  • Text formatting: The body text is in 1.5 line spacing, using Times New Roman, size 12, in accordance with APA guidelines. Italics are used instead of underlining (except in URLs). Figures and tables are inserted in the text, in the order in which they appear.
  • Style and norms: The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in "Author Guidelines" on the journal’s "About" page.
  • Submission metadata: All authors must correctly fill in the following fields in the OJS system: ORCID (mandatory); Institutional affiliation; Short academic/professional biography (up to 5 lines).
  • Peer review: For submissions to sections with double-blind peer review (e.g., articles), the author must remove any identifying information from the file, following the instructions available in the OJS system.
  • Abstract and keywords: The abstract must be between 100 and 250 words, structured (clearly indicating objective, methodology, results, and conclusion), and accompanied by three to five keywords. A translation of the abstract and keywords into English is mandatory. The use of automatic translators is not recommended.
  • ormatting standards: The article is formatted according to the American Psychological Association (APA, latest edition) guidelines. Self-plagiarism: The Journal of Interdisciplinary Lifestyle Studies accepts up to 25% self-plagiarism in cases of reusing previous works to create a new article, provided that the previous work is properly cited and referenced. Cases above this limit may be rejected. Adding authors: I agree that, after submitting the full text in the OJS system with defined authorship, it will no longer be possible to add new co-authors to the research.
  • Research ethics: The submitted work did not involve research with human beings. If it did, I declare that it strictly followed Resolution No. 510/2016 of the National Health Council (Brazil) and other applicable regulations.

Author Guidelines

The article submitted to the Journal of Interdisciplinary Lifestyle Studies will first be evaluated for its scientific merit;

The article may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English;

The article may have a maximum of four authors;

The article must be unpublished in Brazil and in any other country. The publication of a preliminary version in the proceedings of scientific events, whether national or international, will not be considered a violation of originality;

The journal encourages, under a fast track regime, the submission of the best papers presented at congresses and scientific conventions. It should be noted that such articles will undergo peer review under a double-blind system and will be analyzed using the same selection criteria as other texts;

The article cannot be simultaneously submitted to another journal;

The Editor may accept or reject the submitted article, in accordance with the journal's editorial policy;

The Editor may suggest changes to the article, both in its content and in compliance with the writing and presentation standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA);

Articles must be written clearly and objectively. Authors should avoid colloquial language, jargon, or technical terms without proper explanation;

It is essential that manuscripts written in Portuguese are carefully proofread prior to submission. Articles with writing or grammar problems will be rejected;

Manuscripts must be accompanied, in a separate file, by a letter authorizing publication and copyright transfer;

The editorial team is not responsible for the opinions, ideas, and concepts expressed in published texts, which are the sole responsibility of the authors.

Publication Standards

  • The file must be in Microsoft Word or RTF format, with a maximum size of 2MB;

  • Writing and formatting must comply with APA standards. The font must be Times New Roman, size 12, with single spacing and justified text;

  • Paragraphs must have the first line indented 1.25 cm, and there must be single spacing between paragraphs;

  • Page format must be A4 (29.7 x 21 cm), with the following margins: top (3 cm), left (3 cm), bottom (2 cm), and right (2 cm);

  • Articles must contain a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 17 pages, including tables, notes, and references;

  • The following structure must be adopted in the article:
    Title, abstract (in Portuguese), keywords (in Portuguese), abstract (in English), keywords (in English), introduction, theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, and references;

  • The title of the text and the section titles must be written in uppercase letters and bold, with corresponding Hindu-Arabic numbering. Subsections must be written in lowercase letters and also in bold;

  • A caption should not be placed immediately after a title or subtitle. There must be at least one paragraph of text between them;

  • Tables, graphs, and figures must be inserted into the main body of the text in the order in which they appear, using font size 10;

  • Abstracts, both in Portuguese and in English, must not exceed 250 words and must clearly present the objective, methodology, and main results;

  • Authors must indicate four to six keywords, both in Portuguese and in English, that represent the content of the work;

  • The use of bold should be restricted to titles and subtitles only;

  • Foreign words must be written in italics, and neologisms or terms with unusual meaning must be placed in quotation marks;

  • Footnotes should be avoided; when indispensable, they must be clear and concise, and should not be confused with bibliographic references, which must appear at the end of the text in APA format;

  • Articles must be grammatically correct. Texts with grammar errors will be rejected;

  • Articles accepted for publication will undergo final editing and spelling/grammar revision;

  • The identification of authors must not appear in the body of the text. In a separate page, the following must be provided: full name, short biography with academic and professional background, address, phone number, e-mail, and preferably the ORCID;

  • In the OJS system, adopted by the Journal of Interdisciplinary Lifestyle Studies, articles will be automatically rejected if authors do not agree with the exclusivity, originality, and copyright transfer clauses;

  • The OJS system records the submission date and all stages of the evaluation and publication process, allowing authors to automatically monitor the status of their article;

  • The editor and/or any individuals or institutions involved in the editorial boards are not responsible for the opinions, ideas, and concepts expressed in published texts, which are the sole responsibility of the authors;

  • Reviews are carried out through standardized forms, with space for personalized comments, which will be sent to the authors in case of conditional acceptance, request for corrections, or rejection;

  • The article must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s website.
