Las Escrituras de Israel y la Iglesia: una visión general del uso del Antiguo Testamento en 1 Pedro

La Primera Epístola de Pedro establece una compleja red de relaciones con el Antiguo Testamento, revelando la importancia de esta conexión para comprender la profundidad y los múltiples significados de la carta, así como su relevancia para la fe cristiana. Este estudio, a través del diálogo con autores clave en el estudio de 1 Pedro, examina cómo el Antiguo Testamento funciona como fundamento de la epístola, influyendo en su lenguaje, teología y pensamiento. El autor de la carta recurre a las Escrituras judías como fuente de autoridad, base para una exégesis que ilumina la vida y obra de Jesucristo, y como recurso retórico y pastoral para alentar a los destinatarios. Mediante imágenes y elementos que conectan la realidad del pueblo hebreo del pasado con la de la Iglesia cristiana, se desarrollan temas como la identificación de la Iglesia como el nuevo Israel; la cristología, que enfatiza el papel salvífico y ejemplar de Jesús; la salvación, la santidad y la ética cristiana; así como el sufrimiento y la persecución que el pueblo de Dios enfrentó con fe y perseverancia. Se concluye que esta profunda relación con las Escrituras veterotestamentarias enriquece de manera esencial la teología de 1 Pedro.
